The National Epidemiological Oral Health Survey & Fluoride Mapping Of Oral Diseases (2004)

This gigantic National Survey on Oral Health – National Epidemiological Study of Dental Diseases in India and Fluoride Mapping - the project conceived, initiated and started by Dr. R. K. Bali -   first of its kind after independence, was completed at the level of Dental Council of India and Govt. of India in order to assess the nature, extent and trends of oral health problems facing the country and to help plan and recommend strategies, based on the data and a scientific analysis, to address some of the problems  on  a public health  level, fluorides  in water and topical fluorides, after determining methodology, time-frame, selection of nodal centers for planning/organizing survey, selection, calibration and training of survey teams. The survey completed with the help of Statistical, Demographic and related Experts and Consultants provides information about the dental manpower and treatment facilities present throughout the country. Focus of the survey was also to provide possible fluoride mapping of India.  The result have come out  in the shape of  authentic documents  for  future  use  for  the  first  time  IN the country for  community health as invaluable tool for effective planning and implementation of oral health programme in India.
