OTHER SOCIAL ACTIVITIES :

Has been acclaimed as one of the 100 per center Rotarians in his attendance for the last 25 years.  In his tenure as President of Rotary Club of Delhi Midtown, organized, among others, events like –

 

Ambassadors’ Forum – a function to bring together on one platform honoured representatives of various friendly countries.

 

Polio Immunization Programme carried out on regular basis by holding camps and assisting the Centers identified by the government as major reservoirs of polio cases and by providing vans or transport for immunizing children of the JJ Clusters; supervising immunization process; giving publicity and create awareness amongst the JJ occupants prior to immunization days; providing incentive for the children to come for mass immunization.

 

Handicapped Welfare Camps organized when calipers, artificial limbs and tricycles were provided to handicapped to enable them to become self-reliant and useful members of the community.  (Over the years more than 700 persons assisted).

 

Tree Plantation Campaign – for a pollution-free environment - 4000 saplings planted.

 

Conference on “Challenges of Tomorrow & Ethical Values” in order to highlight the importance of encouraging goodwill and friendship in society, promoting ethical values in the global civilization that lies ahead through service organizations like Rotary, as un-precedented behaviour in the political, economic and social fields all over the world has forced the humanity to pause and think how best  to meet the challenges faced by the community, as it has great relevance to the human society at large and our country in particular.  The Conference was attended and addressed by eminent personalities like His Holiness Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Dr.Karan Singh, Shri Soli Sorabjee, Shri Vishnu Hari Dalmia, Dr. L.M.Singhvi as also various other speakers.

 

Celebrations of the 75th Anniversary of Rotary Foundation, coinciding with the Community Service Day, the participants among others being Raja Saboo, the  Rotary  International President, Trustees.

 

Rotary District Governors etc. etc. in order to stress the need for continuance of the service projects of Rotary with more zeal and involvement.

 

With the idea of providing medical services in the field of dental care and oral hygiene to the poor and needy in the outlying slum areas of Delhi, the resettlement colonies and jhuggi-clusters, Schools, Institutions for the Handicapped, Jail inmates, a fully-equipped Mobile Dental Van was launched.

 

Through voluntary efforts another new fully-equipped air-conditioned Dental Van was commissioned.  This fleet of Mobile Clinics is available to Philanthropic Institutions, Institutions for the Handicapped, Schools, Organized Groups, Indian Dental Association, Social Clubs etc.  Over a few years’ period the Clinic has examined well over 3,00,000 people and has provided free dental treatment to many of them.  All operational expenses, including medicines, cost of diesel, staff salaries are collected from those who can afford.
